TITLE: Slow Burn
PERPETRATOR: Angeal's Succeeded Spirit
SUE-O-METER:
(toxic)
FULL NAME: Samir Karim Karam
SPECIES: Wizard/Psy-Keeper
HAIR: "His long brown hair reached the tip of his shoulders."
EYES: "His sky blue eyes sparked with an inner power, and mostly reflected expressions of mockery or humour, but Harry could spot the occasional spark of pain or regret. "
MARKINGS: "a young voice", a lightening bolt scar on the back of his neck, and imposing figure: "He was still shirtless, and showed off his toned body. He had a lot of muscle, but he seemed to have focused on training all his body so as not to look like those muscle bound body builders he used to watch on TV." He has "two long gashes that went from his upper torso towards his belly button".
POSSESSIONS: "He seemed to be dressed in pure black muggle combat gear."
ORIGIN: Shows up during the Graveyard battle in GoF, and plops Harry on his shoulder and escapes with him back to Hogwarts using the Portkey. He is from the "Magical Arab World", so there's a chapter devoted to debunking stereotypes. The Stuthor also says in the AN at the beginning of the chapter that "My new character, that I will call Samir (THAT'S MY NAME BITCHES) will be almost invincible." So, I'm just going to close the book on the origin right now with the decision that it's a pepper-jack-cheese laden self-insert.
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Saves Harry, is instantly "trusted" by the Order, is rude and uses profanity on Snape for no good reason, just to be vulgar and "edgy" I guess. He saves Harry's life, again, from fake-Moody by stopping the Avada Kedavra curse in mid-air. Then after checking out Harry's mind, he has enough sense to question Barty Crouch Jr with Fudge there. Now Sirius Black has a pardon, and everyone knows the truth. Then he lies to Dumbledore about how he escaped with Harry, prompting Dumbledore, of all people, to think "These Arabs sure did come with strange names for their spells." *facepalm* Then he and Harry are hanging out alone in the Hospital Wing, when Samir decides to prance around with no shirt on to get Harry to notice the scar on his neck, and his toned body. Then he explains to Harry that it wasn't his mother's love that saved him but a manifestation of the intense natural abilities that Harry had deep inside him. Samir, of course, is going to teach Harry how to use these abilities.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: "intense" wandless magic, telekinesis, cockiness and arrogance, is "almost invincible". He can stop spells in mid-air and can beat someone up.
NOTES: Why are the stus always so toxic?

Oh man, Sam came over after work and he brought the DVI adapter for my VGA monitor, hooked it up and I now have dual monitors. I'm pretty psyched about it, because when I was at Little Airplane, I had dual monitors and it just made working a ton easier. Now that I'm freelancing, I won't have to work in After Effects on one tiny little monitor.
I've also put Sims2 in Window mode so that I can now play Sims2 and work/play at the same time. It's brilliant! I'm the epitome of multitasking. Haha. I haven't had a super computer in so long. So I'm really psyched. Windows 7 has been slightly glitchy, but nothing too serious, which is okay. It's unfortunate that I haven't really done anything with these dual monitors except play Sims2. I can't wait until I get more freelance (which should be today) and try it out with real work! What's extra cool is that I made my monitor's desktop wallpaper changes every 30 minutes. Yay!

Last night I went to Sam's house and brought my Sim2 files over on my flash drive to show him my spankin' new, gigantic house that I'd made. Of course, then I realized I forgot the Sims2 CD, so it was a waste. To cure my boredom, while he watched Damages with Diana, I played Dragon Age: Origins, which is pretty great. I kind of have a game-crush on Alistair. He's so sarcastic. It's kind of great and I'm definitely enjoying the game.
Then, this morning I played more Dragon Age, and then decided that I wanted to get an expansion pack for my Sims2 game. So I went to Target and got the University Life expansion pack and then decided to get a new flat screen monitor for my new computer. So carrying home the monitor, I realized, I forgot my keys at Sam's!!!
My roommates were at work, Sam was at work, Sam's roommate was at work. I couldn't get my keys and I couldn't get anyone to let me in! And I was holding a huge monitor! Fortunately, Alisa was home and she lives like 4 blocks from me. I was on my cellphone, surfing the internet and Kalika ims me and is like, "I have freelance work for you." And I had to turn it down because I was frakkin' on the phone, stuck out of my house. Boo. But I hung out at Alisa's place until Dan got out of work and went home with me. Yay for Alisa and Dan. Man though, what a day.
Though, my monitor is damn sexy and Sims2 is super fun, University Life comes with IKEA furniture. SO freakin' awesome...though a little bit weird, but yippie!

So yesterday was Monday, my day off. Looking forward to sleeping in, I didn't go to bed until after one in the morning. How lovely, right? Stay up late, sleep in late, it balances out.
Only not in my house.
Seven o'clock here comes Daisy attacking my head and waking me up. I am already not a morning person, but add to it the pouncing and scratching that Daisy does to "play" and wake me up... I was not amused. Then she got Tipi up and Tipi was ready to go out, so I finally relented and got up. I put Daisy on her leash and left Tipi off because she listens very well and my plan was to walk them down, let them potty, then come back upstairs and go right back to bed.
No dice. This lady who has an angry Yorkie was out walking her dog and Tipi ran over to say hi (she is a very social dog and loves other dogs and children). By the time I got there, the woman was holding her Yorkie and glaring at me as if I had unleashed the hounds on her. I apologized and lied saying Tipi had gone off before I could get her leash on her, put her leash on and walked her and Daisy (who was barking her head off and wouldn't shut up) down the walk to the side of the road and the wooded lot where they usually do their business.
But of course neither dog wanted to do their business, they wanted to run and play. So I walked them behind the buildings and took them off their leashes and they ran off to play and after what seemed forever, to potty. So I took them back upstairs where I was WIDE AWAKE NOW and promptly got a splinter in my foot from a paintbrush handle that Daisy chewed up and left in tiny pieces all over my floor.
Well, frustrated to all hell I grab the vacuum and start cleaning up the bits on the floor. I was still irritated enough that I decided just to clean my room and shampoo the carpet as well (we did the living/dining room that weekend already so the cleaner was still sitting out). Well, stepping on wet carpet is inevitable and at one point I stepped on the switch to turn the machine off and my foot (being wet)slipped and I tore off half of my big toe nail.
Let's recap.
- Rudely woke up at 7 on my day off
- Glared at angrily by angry Yorkie woman
- Couldn't get back to sleep
- Got splinter in my foot
- Resorted to cleaning room and carpet at 8:30 in the morning
- Tore off half of my big toenail
And did I mention the PMS? Yeah. The icing on the cake of FAIL that was my morning.
But I pushed on, because the room needed cleaning and I had nothing else to do that early in the morning. By the time Sayra came in to say good morning, I had burned myself out and was feeling better. The rest of the day ended up being REALLY nice. We took the dogs to the park for a walk and they seemed to really enjoy it (Sayra and I really did) then we had lunch and did some shopping that we needed to do and relaxed the rest of the day.
So yeah. Not a bad ending to a really crappy day!

TITLE: The Ravenclaw Witch Year One
PERPETRATOR: Noari
SUE-O-METER:
(bad)
FULL NAME: Thalia Lockhart
SPECIES: Witch
HAIR: not described
EYES: not described
MARKINGS: none described
POSSESSIONS: new books, wand, "A beautiful, smokey gray female, with dark talons, who was named by Thalia - totally by coincidence - Ravenclaw"
ORIGIN: Lockheart's attention shunning, last-name hating daughter. Is happy to go to Hogwarts to get away from her dad.
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Lockheart's daughter. Sits with Draco on the train. He acts like a jerk, as usual. She will be sorted into Ravenclaw.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: "She had more knowledge and power than even He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named!", but doesn't share that tidbit because she wants to have friends at Hogwarts, and not be shunned due to her expected fame.
NOTES: The Suethor claims to know that you shouldn't make a character "the most powerful", but feels it's not a Mary-Sue because she isn't bragging about it. A Mary-Sue is not created from the bragging, but from the fact that she is more powerful and knowledgeable about magic at the age of eleven than Voldemort. She also invokes noob status, which is sort of negated if she knows that OC characters shouldn't be "the most" anything.
( How do you know that you are more powerful than Voldemort? )

Sam ordered parts from New Egg for my new computer which he put together last night. I'm completely thrilled with it. Having not changed computers for 7 years, having a new one is like...a real treat. I'm particularly psyched because my old computer had 500MB of RAM, 80GB of space...whereas this one has 2GBs of RAM and 323GB of space, and apparently a hardcore processor, which is exciting. I ran Sims 2 on it last night and it ran like a beauty. It was absolutely smooth with no hitches whatsoever. Ran better than Sam's computer! It also has Windows 7 which is so amazing. I named it "Giraffeski"!
Then today, I did more freelance for MTV and used the computer for the first time and After Effects ran soooo smoothly. I could juggle After Effects, Photoshop, and Flash without so much as a stammer. It was awesome. I am so unbelievably happy with this computer. The only thing I am sad about is that Windows 7 makes my scanner obsolete, and none of the drivers work with it. But I still can hook it up to my ancient laptop and scan things with it, so I'm not too worried. I also think I'll need a better monitor in the future for it, because the current monitor I have is tiny and can't go higher than 1024x768.
The other night, Dan made Sam, Gabe and I pot roast. I also made nutella and pretezels covered in nutella. Then yesterday, Dan and I made spaghetti and meatballs with brownies. Pretty darn good. I'm kind of happy that I'm cooking more. But now to cook healthier things and lose some weight!
